East-West Engagement Rings

Ready to turn a classic on its head? If you are bride who wants a clean, modern, totally unique engagement ring, you need to consider East-West mountings.

An East-West mounting is any mounting that orients its center diamond horizontally rather than laterally. This change of direction gives the engagement ring an enigmatic look that’s hard to pin down. At once modern and Deco-inspired, free-spirited and structured, this style is wildly evocative, and we cannot get enough of it.

Consider a bezel or partial bezel mounting to draw maximum attention to your ring’s directional design.

Marquise pack a lot of punch in East-West mountings. Once turned on their axis, the marquise shape emulates that of a human eye, almost as though this ring is looking back up at you.

Ovals, pears, and emerald-cut rectangles are other natural candidates for East-West mountings.

If you love East-West design but already chose a square or round diamond, don’t fret! You can still get the East-West effect by choosing mountings with side stones arranged to favor the horizontal axis.

Here are some of our favorites!
