Does Your Jeweler Do That?

Maybe you’ve heard of a Perfect Ring Promise, though it wouldn’t surprise us one bit if you haven’t. These kinds of promises are pretty rare in the jewelry industry, and the jeweler’s who offer them… well, they’re basically unicorns.

But just because you may not know what a Perfect Ring Promise is, doesn’t mean you should go without one.

So what are these mysterious vows, and what do they do for you?

A Perfect Ring Promise is almost like a warranty, but for all the intangible aspects of your ring…

In other words, while a warranty (should) cover damage, breakage and loss indefinitely, a Perfect Ring Promise protects you from disappointment, heartbreak and changing tastes. Only a Perfect Ring Promise will guarantee your ring when the problem isn’t physical, but emotional. This is why you shouldn’t go without one.

Here’s how they work:

Consider for a moment that nothing at all is physically wrong with the ring.

  • Maybe it’s just not quite what you expected from your engagement ring.

  • Maybe the diamond isn’t behaving the way you want it to in that mounting you thought you’d love.

  • Maybe grime is collecting in funny places on the ring and it’s driving you nuts.

  • Maybe, the custom job you and your partner designed looked better in your minds than it does to you in person.

  • Maybe, after picking out your ring, you saw another, and that is the one that stole your heart. If only you’d seen it weeks prior…

With a Perfect Ring Promise, none of these issues are actually problems at all.

That is because a Perfect Ring Promise is a promise made to you by your jeweler that no matter what, if for any reason at all within your first year of owning that ring, you fall out of love with it, your ring will be fixed, augmented, or even fully remade, to ensure that the ring you keep is the perfect ring for you.

And yes, this includes custom rings.

Unlike a warranty, a Perfect Ring Promise is not indefinite, but it is generous.

At Wedding Day Diamonds, for example, you have a full year to wear that ring, and make sure that it is the ring for you.

If it’s not, you are entitled to a do-over, whether that is a modification of your current design, or a different design all together.

Not only does this take some of the pressure off a man who wants to surprise his girlfriend rather than shop with her, but more importantly, it ensures that the ring she'll be wearing every day for the rest of her life is exactly the one she wants it to be.

It’s a promise that you will have a ring you absolutely love, one that you truly wouldn’t want any other way.

A Perfect Ring Promise goes way beyond a warranty. It’s a commitment great jewelers make to you when they want to be certain that you love your ring (almost) as much as you love one another.

These promises may not be common, but then, neither is your love.

So if you’re thinking about buying a ring from a mall, a small mom and pop shop, or even an online retailer, be sure to find out what comparable promises they’ll make to you. And don’t be surprised if they don’t have one.

Unicorns, like true love, are pretty hard to come by…
